How Fast Should Downloads Be?

July 27, 2007

The rate of transfer from a site towards the workstation of any person would depend on the size and the bandwidth offered by a server towards all people who may connect to a site. Distance is another aspect for consideration since with regard to places where people access certain sites, the gateway that they use will be a contributing factor towards access and the actual transfer rates.

Download Speed Limits

Files for transfer can range from pictures, music files and applications. The size would depend a lot on the entire package with music and video files being the larger sized files a person may consider to download. But for people, speed is equivalent to time that they spend logging on to the web hence the importance of bandwidth connected to time spent. However overall, the important thing is the downloaded items are transferred completely since disruption may render the whole file corrupt and useless.
