MP3Rocket

Written by Nick on June 28, 2011

mp3rocket.jpgLike most P2p sites, this one gives you access to some of the hottest and latest music and music videos from all over that is legal. The site offers a free version of their proprietary software which you use to manage all your shared files, downloads, previews and many more. The free version allows you to download a copy of the song which you can play for 3 times before the song is either purchased or deleted. There is a low one time membership fee of $35.00 which gives you legal unlimited downloads of music and music videos with lower packages of 2-year access at $30.00 and $20.00 for a year’s membership.

Common’ guys, nothing’s free anymore on the net and paying assures your ass doesn’t get sued for piracy. If one is also interested in downloading DVD’s which you can burn (with the use of their software of course) and play in your portable, PC or view using your home theater you can opt for the additional $15.00 to get unlimited downloads.

As you might have noticed, there is a proprietary program to download, play and burn your cd’s which they use for DRM instead of you deciding which is which but it still falls in your lap if you do get to upload or download a so-called hot track or music video. DRM has been almost non-existent in the P2P world which makes it the worst place to find legal music. The software allows you to get sample tracks which you could play for three times after which you can buy them or delete them from your play list (with the free version of the software). The fee you pay removes all the annoying ads and advertising hoopla included with the other free music download sites.

Advertising is the bread and butter of most free music sharing sites like Ruckus and the many others out there and when you do register and get a paid service, you get them out of the standard free programs. You have access to all the latest tracks from Arvil, Timbaland and many more, so do check them out for some of the best legal downloads from a P2P site that’s fast and legal. Get it, LEGAL, meaning you get your music without stepping over somebody else’s toes and get sued later for DRM violation Intellectual Copyrights infringement. So MP3Rocket.com for the best P2P legal downloads. The fee you pay is a one time fee, you don’t get charged per/download or video. As long as you’re within the contract (package) scope, you get unlimited access to all the music, video and music videos you like.

Take control of IE with RepairIE

Written by Nick on June 14, 2011

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is not my favorite browser. I just find it a little clunky and hard to personalize. But RepairIE is one app that may make me relook IE again.

The 500kb utility has five tabs that help you administer IE in a way that is easy to do and understand. You can configure IE’s appearance, features, network connections, search and security through a simple yes/no interface. The sheer number of customizable options makes this an indispensable tool if you’re an Internet Explorer user.

USB Safely Remove is a Cool Utility

Written by Nick on June 7, 2011

Don’t you just hate the way Windows manages attached devices and storage media on the USB? I just about explode everytime I get a message that I can’t safely remove my flashdisk because some program is said to be using it and you frantically remove every single app that’s open hoping that it’s the one that’s causing the problem.

That’s why I think a utility like USB Safely Remove is such an indispensable tool. It helps manage USB devices by actually indicating what it is and removing devices is as simple as clicking on it. The cool thing is that if there is a conflict, the utility will tell you what application is causing the problem.

I think everyone should have this device.

Cool utility: Evil Lyrics, a lyric search tool

Written by Nick on April 6, 2011

Downloading music is a lot of fun especially when you get the opportunity to actually sing along. Karaoke is probably one the best pastimes in the world but what is hard is that singing along to an mp3 is hard because you always need to look for the lyrics for each file.

That’s why I think a utility like Evil Lyrics is such a big help for closet singers. The free app automatically gets the lyrics to songs that are played on your PC’s default music app. The lyrics appear in a small window that you can customize. I’ve been using Evil Lyics for more than a year now and I am one happy user.

You guys should also try it.

Screen capture made easy with PicPick

Written by Nick on February 28, 2011

I usually need to make screen captures for my work. Powershot, the Firefox add-on was of great use to me but since it’s shareware, I have to contend with the full features being locked after the trial period.

Thus, it has made PicPick a great solution for me. It not only gives the regular functions of making screen captures and Windows hot keys, it also has its own editor that has a lot of features. The free app becomes a one-stop utility for capturing images and then editing them. The editor allows work on multiple images and there is a repeat function that lets you recapture the same place on the screen.

If you’re on the lookout for a full-featured and free screen capture software you can’t go wrong with PicPick.

MuCommander: A Nifty File Manager

Written by Nick on February 16, 2011

I manage a lot of files on my computer. So much that sometimes it gets a bit tedious to keep track of all of them. If you’re like me then consider using a replacement file manager for your OS.

MuCommander is a free, open source and cross platform file manager. Windows, Mac and Linux users will be able to use this nifty app. There is even a portable version.

MuCommander is actually a Java Web Start application and loads speedily on anything.

The interface is a skinnable dual-pane GUI. Though it has no tab support it possesses a number of other features that you will definitely appreciate like support for FTP, SFTP, Samba, HTTP, NFS and Bonjour. You can even explore archives without extracting them, which is highly useful for file archivists.

MuCommander may become a mainstay in my computer.

Legal Sounds offers good music service

Written by Nick on January 21, 2011

In my quest for legal downloads I stumbled on Legal Sounds. The website offers a legal way of getting music files from the internet. At this point, only iTunes has been the most popular and consistently used music download service.

Legal Sounds requires users to download its proprietary Downloader and load up the application with the preferred balance using credit card payment options. It also accepts e-Gold.

Legal Sounds has the makings of being a good contender in the legal music download service market because of its no-fuss way of providing its service.

iPhone Apps You MUST Download

Written by Nick on December 30, 2009

spotify-iphone-app-1So you got an iPhone or an iPod Touch for Christmas. Now what? Of course, the next step is to download as many applications as you possibly can. You’re probably already trying to get your hands on various apps, but here is a list of some of the apps that will bring you a whole lot of fun to usher the New Year in.

Spotify for the iPhone
Spotify has already captured the hearts of countless music lovers. It has been dubbed the ultimate music app for the iPhone. You can sync music – offline playlists – through WiFi among other things. Downloading the software is free, but in order to make full use of the Spotify service (listen-all-you-can), you have to pay for a subscription. It is well worth the fee, trust me.

Doom Classic
Younger kids may not have recollections of this game – which was mind blowing way back then – but everyone will enjoy playing Doom. The game play is very similar to the original and the controls very easy. More so, if you have the same WiFi connection, you and your friends can play together via the network!

Photoshop
The iPhone is not known for taking ultra nice pictures, but who needs excellent shots when you have Photoshop to “prettify” them for you? With this iPhone version, you can do a lot with those pictures – and you get free storage (2GB) at Photoshop.com as well.

Music, games, and photo editing – you’ve got all you need to keep you busy!

TreeStyle Tab for Firefox

Written by Nick on December 20, 2008

If you have a widescreen monitor I’m sure you’ve wondered at some point how you can maximize the extra virtual real estate that it provides. If you’re like me then you’d consider getting TreeStyle Tab extension for Firefox.

The free extension lets you move your tab list from the left or right of the screen. Actually, you can even place it at the top or the bottom if you choose. This customization allows you to take advantage of space and giving you a personalized way of surfing using tabs.

I won’t lie. It’s a little disorienting at first, and I found myself still mousing to the top of my Firefox window from time to time, but it’s definitely a nice change now that I’m used to it. As an added bonus, stretching the tab bar to fill more of the blank space mean seeing more informative – or at least longer – titles than you would with the Liliputian default tabs.

Right-clicking the tabs allows to to expand and collapse all tab trees, and you can, of course, still drag-and-drop your tabs to re-order them.

I prefer the simplicity of TreeStyle, but if you’re looking for a more feature-rich solution you may want to try Tabextensions 3. It’s got a few more tricks up it’s sleeve, like thumbnail previews and performing actions on multiple tabs.
