The rate of transfer from a site towards the workstation of any person would depend on the size and the bandwidth offered by a server towards all people who may connect to a site. Distance is another aspect for consideration since with regard to places where people access certain sites, the gateway that they use will be a contributing factor towards access and the actual transfer rates.

Since its inception in 2000, podcasting has opened a whole new innovation for people to be able to listen to streaming audio and video files at any time of their liking. All they have to do is download the podcasts which are stored on the computer or device and may be accessed at anytime by the downloader. Site such as iTunes and TiVo have made it available and possible for this new innovation that most would be familiarly know as Internet Radio.
